ULRIKA STRÖMSTEDT

The Swedish lyric Mezzo-Soprano, Ulrika Strömstedt was between 2002 and 2013 engaged as Mezzosoprano soloist at Deutsches National Theater in Weimar, Germany, she performed in more then 30 different opera-productions, guest appearances followed at: Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Südthüringische Staatstheater in Meiningen, Theater Erfurt (Germany), Municipal de L’escoxador in Lleida, Spain and Luzerner Theater in Switzerland.

Ulrika Strömstedt studied in Copenhagen (Denmark), at the Musikkonservatoriet (Royal Danish Academy of Music); Operaakademiet (Royal Opera Academy), with Prof. Kirsten Buhl Møller and took Masterclasses with Anthony Rolfe-Johnson and Diane Montague. Proffessional experiences accompanied her studies. She sung bigger roles at Det Kongelige Theater (the Royal Theatre) and Tivoli-Plaenen in Copenhagen (Denmark) and at Theatre Vadstena Akademien, (Sweden).

Appearing often in contemporary works, Ulrika Strömstedt has sung the Soprano in Luigi Nonos La fabbrica illuminata, Der Junge” in the chamber opera Pnima by Chaya Czernowin, as well as The Triumph of death by F. Rzewski in Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, which both won great acclaim in the national media (Götz- Friedrich award 2016) . Of particular note was her appearance as Alice and k’Ali in the contemporary Opera Nuit des Hommes by Per Nörgard in Gera/Altenburg Theatre, Germany, . Her Desdemona in Rossini’s Otello received accolades from several German critics.

In 2009 she recorded Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang on CD with the Heidelberger Symfonikern.

As a concert singer, Ulrika Strömstedt has appeared with such diverse orchestras as:

Her concert repertoire includes:
Shéhérazade by Ravel, Les Nuits d’été by Berlioz, Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, Bach’s Christmas oratorio, B-Minor-Mass, St. Matthew Passion and St. John passion, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Mozart’s Requiem and C-minor Mass.
